SCOTSIM

Welcome to the official project website for SCOTSIM. This was the first project based in Scotland to explore the use of truck simulators, to deliver driver training for the Scottish transport and logistics sector. The programme was an initiative of The Scottish Executive funded through The Scottish Road Haulage Modernisation Fund.

Scotsim used two full mission simulators in fixed and mobile configurations to investigate, demonstrate and evaluate the application and benefits of using simulators to train truck drivers in the principles of efficient and effective driving.

The first phase of the Scotsim programme provided some 700 Scottish truck drivers and their companies with the opportunity to benefit from the simulators and their associated training modules. The programme commenced in July 2005 and ran through to March 2007. Participants in the project were pioneering individuals and organisations testing the technological solutions aimed at delivering one of the future solutions for truck driver training.
